How long have you been a photographer?

I’ve been photographing professionally since 2019. I started with a senior session in February 2019, then quickly began exploring editorial and branding work. In 2020, I stepped into weddings, which helped sharpen my technical skills and ability to work under pressure, but I ultimately realized my passion was in branding and headshots. That focus has shaped the work I do today, creating intentional, polished portraits that help people show up confidently and professionally.

What do you love about photography?

I love the ability to tell a story in a single still frame. Whether I’m working with personal brands and small businesses to help them grow, or photographing seniors and families, the goal is always the same—creating something meaningful. For families and seniors, those images become memories that last for generations, which is why I focus on print-only sessions. Photography isn’t just about taking a photo, it’s about creating something that holds value long after the moment has passed.

Do you have a certain style you prefer?

My style is clean, intentional, and editorial. I focus on creating portraits that feel natural but refined, with thoughtful lighting and simple composition. I guide clients so they feel comfortable and confident, rather than stiff or overly posed. Whether it’s branding, headshots, or personal work, the goal is always the same to create images that feel authentic, polished, and timeless rather than trendy.

What type of lighting do you like to photograph in?

I prefer a controlled lighting approach that still feels natural. Most of my work blends off camera flash with natural ambient light to create images that look polished without feeling artificial. I love the look of natural light, but I want full control over it, which is why I often bounce and shape light using reflectors and flash rather than relying on available light alone. This approach allows me to work consistently in any environment while keeping the final image clean, flattering, and natural in feel.

Is Casey Foto your real name?

No, it’s a creative name. The idea came to me while my kids were watching Madagascar. It reminded me of Motorola’s old “Hello Moto” commercial, and I jokingly said “Casey Foto” out loud. It stuck immediately. The name felt simple, memorable, and creative, and it’s been part of the brand ever since.
